What our trainees say about us:

Laura Merriman, Teacher of Performing Arts, Knutsford Academy

I trained with Performing Arts school direct TT@K, my experience was nothing but a positive and supportive one! From the start of the course the tutors were instantly supportive through settling in at a new school and guiding me through the process. Despite having lots of questions, I felt completely re-assured by my subject mentors, liaison tutor and LJMU tutors that they were here with answers. I particularly enjoyed getting involved in the study days, hearing other subjects’ perspectives on key classroom skills offered different insights from different points of view. Although there is a lot of paperwork and what feels like not enough time, the course was structured so that each review was explained, with clear examples and guidance. The Friday sessions ensured I had the theoretical knowledge to apply to the classroom the following week, and cake! I would absolutely love to re-do my training year again with TT@K.

Jack Hollinshead, Teacher of English, Sir William Stanier

"Teacher Training at The Knutsford Academy has given me the capacity and capabilities to fulfil all my teaching needs as an ITT. The balance of gaining experience in school all week, backed by an engaging study of teaching methods to plan ensured exciting ideas could be trialled during lesson time to engage students and develop both their learning alongside my own. The support in the classroom at placements from ITT mentors and learning various pedagogical approaches from seasoned specialists allowed for the greatest success possible from my experience."

Amber Richards, Teacher of Design and Technology, UTC Crewe

"I decided to go into teaching because I wanted to make a real difference to peoples' lives and I found that TT@K really aligned with this value. During my training I got to visit a number of schools within the TLA both in Crewe and Knutsford, this gave me excellent opportunity to develop my teaching skills in a variety of settings. It was a pleasure to work with the students and staff across Crewe Engineering and Design UTC, Knutsford Academy and Sir William Stanier, they always made me feel welcome; I felt part of the family immediately. An advantage to training with TT@K are the Friday sessions spent with fellow trainees on the course and the LJMU tutors, this enabled me to also learn the pedagogical knowledge to support my teaching and I could discuss the week with people who understood the challenges I had to overcome, but also celebrate the successes with. The experience and support given to me during my teacher training with TT@K ultimately led me to the decision to remain within the TLA for my ECT years."
